Qualifications
The State of Illinois engaged New Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church to build a home for the homeless. We accepted the challenge to meet a small portion of the great need to eradicate homelessness and to aid the City of Chicago plan 2.0. New Pisgah is excited for Veterans New Beginnings (SRO) Housing and its first opportunity to serve the homeless by a way of providing permanent housing and supportive services. We will target 54 homeless single adults men & women that have served in the military. In perpetration Veterans New Beginnings design an capacity features are comprehensive, they will receive case management and supportive services. Our first goal is to have a strong team to support them through the transition from homeless to permanent housing. Secondly the services we offer will serve at the tenants advocate ensuring placement success. We are located in the Auburn Gresham Community.
Our tenants will have access dealing with home management, leasing education, health screening, family supports, and transportation. Additionally, we see opportunities for our tenants to partake in services focusing on conflict resolution, safety awareness and life skills sessions such as; money management, networking, and computer basic skills. Plus; social events such as; baseball games, football games, holiday parties (Christmas and Thanksgiving), movie nights, birthday parties and live entertainment will be leveraged.
Our tenants will have full access to all facility common areas like, training rooms, banquet hall, fitness, computer, library, and laundry facilities. Our tenants will be provided with fully furnished units.
New Pisgah has a strong leadership and organizational capacity that has been a provider in the Auburn Gresham community for the past 40 years. We are giving Veterans New Beginnings the competitive edge to serve as a vital community development service and program.
Veterans New Beginnings is excited about the new direction to assist the homeless and looks forward to overseeing the building. We are building a strong property, program and service team, which will include 1 site manager, 1 assist site manager, 1 service coordinator, case managers, health providers, 1 financial accountant, maintenance supervisor and security team. Featherfist and Thresholds are also engaged doing mental illness and drug & alcohol abuse services. We will be fully staffed this fall 2014.
